TOY STORY OF TERROR! (TV)

Summary

This made-for-television animated special continues the story of Woody, Buzz and the rest of their toy friends from the Disney/Pixar films of the same name. The program begins as the gang watches a scary movie in the trunk of the car as their new owner Bonnie and her mother go on a trip. Jessie tumbles into a toolbox and panics when she is briefly locked inside, still claustrophobic from her years inside a box, and as the others work to free her, the car gets a flat tire and Bonnie and her mother stop at a roadside motel for the night. Mr. Pricklepants, a cinematic expert, observes that they are walking right into a classic scary-movie scenario, but Mr. Potato Head ignores him and heads out on his own to explore the room. When he fails to return, the others head out in search of him, and Trixie falls into a vent. Pricklepants and Rex soon mysteriously vanish as well, but Potato Head's disembodied arm helps the others to escape the vent. Jessie meets Combat Carl, a battle-scarred soldier toy who urges her to forget her friends and save herself, and she encounters Mr. Jones, a dog-like lizard who drags her off to Ron, the motel manager, who has trained him to steal toys.

Ron puts Jessie up on a bidding website, sure that she is worth money, and Jessie is reunited with Carl and the rest of her friends, who have been similarly kidnapped along with many other toys. The toys fret that they too will soon be shipped off, and Woody is sealed into a box when he sells for a high price online. When he is placed on a delivery truck in the morning, Combat Carl urges Jessie to overcome her fears and jump into a box herself to rescue her friend. Jessie steels her nerves and frees Transitron, a robot toy, from his box and climbs inside, and though the delivery woman seals her in with tape, she thinks quickly and uses a paper clip to escape. She manages to rescue Woody and they make it back to their friends, and when Mr. Jones tries to recapture her, she receives an unexpected "helping hand" and frees herself. Bonnie and her mother are surprised to see that Ron has stolen her toys, and they quickly reclaim her friends as they leave the motel. Later, inspired by Jessie's bravery, Combat Carl leads the other toys in a mass breakout, determined to reunite with his young owner Billy. Ron is flustered when policemen appear and bust him on his scheme, and his attempt to escape is less successful than the toys'. Includes commercials and promos.
