JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD {PART 2 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
One in this animated television series about a group of superheroes working to defend the world against colossal threats.
J’onn, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl detect the disappearance of Central City from the Watchtower and attempt to contact the Flash and Green Lantern without success. Green Lantern, Solovar, and the Flash awaken, all apparently unharmed. Solovar places his headband on the Flash, freeing him from Grodd’s mind control. They are unable to contact the Watchtower; it turns out that Grodd has surrounded Central City with a force field similar to the one protecting Gorilla City, cloaking it from sight. They are unable to shut down the generator and Solovar advises that they track down Grodd. Wonder Woman, J’onn, and Hawkgirl fly down in a Javelin to investigate and accidentally collide with the force field, sending them plummeting and forcing them to crash-land. Meanwhile, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Solovar discover a crowd of people gathered in a public square as Grodd addresses them; all of them are under Grodd’s mind control.
Batman analyzes the force field and discovers a second field, giving him and the Justice League the location of Gorilla City in Africa. Puzzled by this, J’onn, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl decide to fly there and investigate. Grodd gives a speech about how he plans to destroy Gorilla City and rule over humanity, but the Flash can’t resist shouting back at him. Grodd commands the mind-controlled crowd to seize him, and Green Lantern faces gunfire from the police when he tries to escape. Grodd escapes in the confusion. J’onn, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl arrive at Gorilla City, meeting Batman just outside of it as he attempts to find a way to get past its cloak. They are attacked by the city’s automated defenses and all get knocked unconscious. They are imprisoned by the gorilla security forces, believing that they are spies of some sort.
Grodd takes over a nuclear missile silo and launches a series of warheads at Gorilla City. Green Lantern, the Flash, and Solovar escape the crowd and track down Grodd to the silo. They arrive just in time to see the missiles launch and Green Lantern flies after them to disarm them mid-flight while the Flash and Solovar remain behind to fight Grodd. In Gorilla City, Batman escapes his restraints and frees the others, allowing them to fight off their gorilla captors and escape their prison. They are unable to get out of the dome and are cornered by gorilla security, but suddenly the shield collapses due to Grodd’s interference and the nuclear missiles are detected, rapidly approaching. The Justice League offers to help them stave off the missiles. Green Lantern manages to disarm two of the missiles, but he is hit by shrapnel when one of them explodes and is knocked unconscious.
The Flash and Solovar fight Grodd, and Grodd manages to knock out Solovar as the Flash outpaces him. The remaining two missiles are intercepted by J’onn, Hawkgirl, and Wonder Woman, who is crushed when a portion of one of the missiles crashes into the streets of Gorilla City, although she soon emerges unharmed. The gorillas of Gorilla City cheer the Justice League for successfully saving their city from annihilation. The Flash taunts Grodd, offering to relinquish his headband if Grodd removes his mind control helmet. He does so and Grodd attempts to use his mind control on the now-vulnerable Flash, but his helmet backfires and electrocutes him. The Flash explains that during their fight he used his super-speed to reconfigure Grodd’s helmet without him noticing. He also discovers that Dr. Corwin was not subject to Grodd’s mind control and that she was genuinely attracted to him. In Gorilla City, Solovar thanks the Justice League for their help and reveals that Grodd’s mind has been completely wiped due to his helmet malfunction, and that he will be looked after in Gorilla City for the remainder of his days. Unbeknownst to him, however, Grodd is beginning to recover and regain his intellect. Commercials deleted.
