JUSTICE LEAGUE: FURY {PART 2 OF 2} (TV)
Summary
One in this animated television series about a group of superheroes working to defend the world against colossal threats.
As further chaos unfolds from Aresia’s plague, she explains to Star Sapphire and Tsukuri that her plan is to eliminate the male human population worldwide, as she feels this will solve the ills of the world. Batman and Hawkgirl do their best to help victims of the plague, but Batman soon falls prey to it himself after he and Wonder Woman stop a runaway bus from tearing through the streets. He is taken up to the Watchtower, where J’onn tries to treat him, Superman, the Flash, and Green Lantern without success. The affliction is caused by a powerful allergen, and Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl resolve to find Aresia in order to devise a cure. On the way, Hawkgirl points out that Aresia’s actions are the logical conclusion to the amazon’s principles, and she claims that their ideology is somewhat misandrist.
Aresia and Tsukuri break into an air force base and plan to hijack a stealth bomber. Hippolyta suddenly appears and attempts to command Aresia to cease her plans, but Aresia has Tsukuri attack her and they continue with their plan. While searching for Aresia, Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl attempt to save a falling helicopter and receive some surprise assistance from Star Sapphire; she believes Aresia’s plan is insane and warns them about her raid on the air base. The three of them attack Aresia and Tsukuri before they can ready the stealth bomber, but Star Sapphire reveals that she was working with Aresia all along and was merely serving to bring them all together. Aresia offers Wonder Woman the chance to join her, but Wonder Woman refuses. A fight ensues and Aresia emerges victorious, and shows Wonder Woman that she is holding Hippolyta hostage before they take off in the stealth bomber, leaving Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl behind. However, Hawkgirl manages to obtain a sample of the allergen, which they may be able to use to formulate an antidote. She takes it back to the Watchtower while Wonder Woman goes after the bomber.
Aresia plans to fire cruise missiles loaded with her poison into the upper atmosphere, where it will then be dispersed globally. Hawkgirl contacts J’onn, but finds that he has succumbed to the plague as well, and he collapses. Wonder Woman causes the bomber to plummet to a lower altitude by disabling its hydraulics, but Aresia plans to fire her missiles prematurely before they crash into the ocean. Wonder Woman battles Star Sapphire on the exterior of the bomber as Hawkgirl arrives in a Javelin to give support. They infiltrate the craft and fight with Aresia and Tsukuri before Hippolyta frees herself and interrupts them. She reveals that the male captain of the refugee ship transporting Aresia and her family saved her from drowning and pulled her to the Themiscyran shore before dying; he became the only man to be buried on Themiscyra. Aresia feels resentment for being lied to for her entire life, and remains steadfast in her plan to kill all men in the world. She pushes Hippolyta out of the bomber, activates the missile launch, and fights with Wonder Woman.
Hawkgirl disables the bombers bay doors, preventing the missiles from firing. The missiles prepare to detonate within the bomb bay and Tsukuri bails out. Wonder Woman is hurled out of the craft and looks on as it is destroyed in a fiery explosion. Later, Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl recover Aresia’s notes from her hideout and use them to synthesize an antidote to her plague. They cure the other members of the Justice League, who in turn distribute it to the victims, curing all of them. Commercials deleted.
