MILLION DOLLAR LISTING: NEW YORK: I DREAM OF JEANNE (TV)
Summary
One in this reality television series about the lives of real estate agents in New York City.
While in Puerto Rico with Cathleen and her husband, Luis notices them get into an argument about the property while out dancing at a club. Cathleen walks when Dr. Jones disagrees with her about purchasing the four million dollar property, much to Luis and her husband’s surprise. He finds them both outside and talks to them about the matter, and finds that their disagreements have caused quite a rift between the both of them. He tries to resolve the matter by bringing them to some sort of compromise, and they agree for the time being. Fredrik goes to Park Slope for a listing appointment on a townhouse there, and he meets an investor named Jeanne, who specializes in townhouse restoration. The site is four floors and was constructed in the early 1800’s, boasting carved woodworking, four fireplaces, and a blend of old, restored, and new architecture and furnishings. Jeanne reveals that she has other properties she is investing in of similar quality. Fredrik sets a potential listing price for the townhouse at approximately $4.1 million, a record for that neighborhood, but Jeanne says she was hoping for something higher. They get into a discussion about the pricing and they settle on an initial listing price of $4.45 million. Fredrik is excited at the prospect of working further with Jeanne in the future.
Ryan, recounting the difficulties of selling the “Skyvault” penthouse, hoping to wait until construction is done to film his “big Michael Bay-style” commercial. Zack tells him that he needs to film the video that weekend, and while he feels that it is not nearly time to do so, he feels he cannot disappoint his representatives. Fredrik and Derek discuss the faux pas made at Derek’s art show about the prospect of them having a child, and they decide to be frank about it. Derek is concerned that Fredrik’s career will make it difficult for him to help raise their child. Fredrik believes he can “compromise” and make sacrifices, but Derek is not sure that he is capable of doing so. Derek wants to have a measure of independence utilizing his art career and doesn’t want to end up becoming a stay-at-home father, although Fredrik insists that his high-paying career could provide for them both. Fredrik is surprised to learn about Derek’s true feelings and is frustrated that he seems to be unilaterally making decisions for both of them. Ryan enters the “sky vault” penthouse and sees the completed glass floor section for the first time, impressing him immensely. He is equally impressed by the mechanized sliding glass panels allowing entry into the “vault” below. The rest of the apartment is still undergoing construction, but Ryan is undeterred and hires a new production company to help him make the commercial. He tells his new directors his conceptual idea for the commercial and how he hopes to incorporate the glass floor into it. They are concerned about the extremely short schedule with which they have to produce the commercial but agree to do it anyway.
Fredrik decides that although the prospect of a baby is “on the back burner” for Derek, he is still quite enthusiastic about the idea. He shops for baby clothes while trying to plan the open house for the Park Slope townhouse. He hopes to also use this as an opportunity to get Derek to change his mind about the baby, hoping to bring families into the open house and have Derek participate in some sort of activity for the children there. Luis helps Cathleen and Dr. Jones submit an offer for the beachfront villa. Luis is confident in their offer and he and the buyer’s representative, Abdel, call the seller to submit the offer. However, the seller not only rejects their offer but announces that they are raising the price as well, believing that this will encourage more buyers to approach them. The Joneses are unhappy with this development and feel as though they have been cheated. Luis gets back on the phone with the seller and convinces them to sell to the Joneses immediately, throwing in a few extras such as an electric golf cart and an upgrade in golf club membership for Dr. Jones. Luis presents them with this offer and they decide to take it. Fredrik brings Derek to the townhouse in preparation for the open house, and Derek leads painting and drawing exercises with the children while Fredrik shows their parents around the townhouse. Fredrik believes that his efforts are successful and believes that Derek will change his mind about becoming a parent.
Shooting on Ryan’s commercial begins, and he notes that it is quite expensive to produce but he is quite excited about it. The shoot proves to be quite elaborate, involving locking down 11th Avenue and involving such set pieces as a luxury car and a helicopter. It also proves to be more time-consuming than Ryan had anticipated, much to his annoyance. While in Puerto Rico, Luis takes the opportunity to visit his family, and is quite happy to see them. Fredrik follows up with his brokers on the townhouse and schedules a meeting with Luis; he is satisfied with his record but believes that he could do better with the aid of his advice. Luis, however, still dislikes Fredrik and doesn’t want to befriend him, particularly since he feels he is constantly “condescending.” Luis admits that he still has difficulty trusting Fredrik, and Fredrik tries to make a show of good faith by promising to introduce him to Jeanne and letting him handle some of her other development projects. Luis goes along with this, but both of them are still wary around each other. Ryan hosts a broker’s open, wherein he plans to premiere his commercial. He is extremely nervous about the release of the commercial and does his best to keep his spirits up. The commercial is shown and the audience enjoys it, and Ryan believes he is one step closer to selling the apartment.
Fredrik brings Luis to meet with Jeanne in Park Slope. Luis resents being described to Jeanne as “up-and-coming” and as aspiring to be like Fredrik. He becomes further frustrated when he learns about the current townhouse project, as Luis was under the impression that she was a developer. He comes to believe that Fredrik brought him there simply to gloat, and believes that Jeanne’s projects are not high-profile enough for him. Luis tries to politely decline working with Jeanne, confusing and embarrassing Fredrik; he thinks that Luis doesn’t understand the potential of cultivating a working relationship with Jeanne to create the prospect of greater developments in the future. Outside, Luis confronts Fredrik over this perceived slight and Fredrik tries to placate him. Luis believes that Fredrik is trying to exercise control over him and resents him for that. They part on uneasy terms, still arguing. Commercials deleted.
