MODERN FAMILY: MARCO POLO (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, Phil, Claire and their three kids are forced into a single hotel room for a night while their house is cleared of mold, while elsewhere Jay and Gloria are shocked to find that Manny has a girlfriend, twelfth-grader Sam. Mitch grows exasperated with Cam's excessive superstitions about his varsity football team's current winning streak, and Phil is distraught to find that Claire has "left him" and secretly rented a separate hotel room to escape her family's crazy behavior. Mitch realized that his own "harrowing backstory" regarding supports has prevented him from being fully supportive of Cam's love of football and devotion to his team, and though Gloria instructs Jay to give Sam a stern talking-to, they soon begin to wonder if she may have sincere feelings for oddball Manny.
At the game, Cam realizes that all of his players are "off" – and that Mitch has finally turned up as a spectator, suggesting that he is a "bad-luck charm." Jay is saddened to see Sam kissing another boy, and back at the hotel, Phil bonds with some other sad-sack "single" men as the three kids realize that their dad forced them all into the same room not because of a lack of availability, but out of a desire to spend time with them. Cam is delighted yet guilt-ridden when his team wins the game upon Mitch's departure, and when he finds him stuck on the fence surrounding the field, Mitch admits that he may have unintentionally brought "bad energy" to the game and resolves to be more supportive in the future. Jay comforts a dejected Manny when he admit that Sam dumped him, having only used him to annoy her ex, and Phil is excited when his kids invite him to a late-night round of Marco Polo at the pool. Later, however, he learns that he may have over-bonded with some of his fellow hotel guests. Includes commercials and promos.
