MODERN FAMILY: THE COLD (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, everyone complains that Mitch picked up a nasty cold on his honeymoon and spread it to the rest of the family, though Phil, reviewing the wedding video, realizes that he himself is actually "Patient Zero" and decides to edit out the damning evidence. With an important soccer game approaching, Cam debates whether to bench the untalented Manny or somehow coach him into improving, and though Gloria has nothing but reassurance for her nervous son, Jay declares that his fear is a good thing and will motivate him to succeed. Mitch is exasperated when Lily's friend Sydney outshines her in a number of ways, and Claire determinedly powers through her illness and heads to a business meeting, spurred on by Jay's encouraging words. Phil and Luke attempt to edit the wedding video, though Phil's green-screen effects prove unconvincing, and Luke tells him that he must simply accept his fate and tell the truth.
Alex questions Haley about avoiding Andy after their moment at the wedding, and Cam ends up benching Manny in front of an oblivious Jay and Gloria. Mitch inadvertently upsets "know-it-all" Sydney, and when the family gathers for dinner, Jay and Gloria "bench" Cam away from the table as retaliation. Andy agrees that "things got weird" with Haley, and she is offended when he suggests that she would have a harder time getting over him than he would with her, though his non-reaction to her kiss seems to support this claim. Phil observes that Jay is putting too much pressure on Manny, just as he has always done with Claire, but Gloria is surprised when Manny instead blames her for stressing him out with her excessive praise. Phil panics when the family settles in to watch the wedding video, but everyone is too distracted by their own individual embarrassing behavior to notice his sneezes, and he quickly offers to edit out their undignified moments. Includes commercials and promos.
