HERE'S LUCY: LUCY PLAYS COPS AND ROBBERS (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series starring Lucille Ball as Lucy Carter, a single mother working for her brother-in-law Harry at his employment agency.

Lucy calls together a number of her neighbors at her house for a meeting hosted by the police about home safety; she even calls in Kim, who no longer lives in the neighborhood. Harry arrives as well, followed by a pair of police officer. They explain how to institute a neighborhood watch and how it can be utilized to prevent burglaries and other neighborhood crimes. They also recommend engraving identifying marks on valuables to prevent them from being easily resold. Later that night, Harry suddenly appears at Lucy’s house, explaining that his new television set has been stolen. Lucy notices suspicious activity at her neighbor’s house and reports it to the police. She receives the same officers as earlier, but it turns out to be a false alarm and they have no leads as to the whereabouts of Harry’s stolen television.

Harry brings a number of his valuables to Lucy’s house in order to engrave identifying marks on them. Lucy returns and calls the police to report what she believes to be a suspicious individual waiting in his car outside of her neighbor’s house. The police respond again and this tip once more turns out to be a false alarm. Later Harry goes on the roof to try to fix the television antenna, but Lucy mistakes him for a “prowler” and informs the police. They arrive and seize Harry, and Lucy again apologizes for the misunderstanding. Harry and Lucy go to see a movie together, and while they are gone a burglar enters and pilfers some silverware. Harry and Lucy re-enter while the burglar is upstairs and they notice the silverware assembled in a bag on the couch. Harry runs off as Lucy calls the police again. The burglar attempts to attack Lucy but is too intimidated to go through with it. He locks Lucy in a closet as Harry comes back in, and the burglar throws him in the closet as well. Kim, Mary Jane, and Lucy’s neighbors arrive and the burglar locks each one in the closet one by one as they come in. Everyone panics and waits for the police to arrive, although Kim points out that they may not come, mistaking this for another false alarm. The police do arrive, apprehend the burglar, and release everyone from the closet. Commercials deleted.
