DAVE'S WORLD: YOU MUST(ANG) REMEMBER THIS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series based on the life and times of Miami Herald columnist and family man Dave Barry.
In this episode, Willie and Tommy angle for an increase in allowance as Dave ponders selling his beloved Ford Mustang. Kenny is affronted at the idea of losing "their" car, though Shel explains that doctors prefer Mercedes; Dave recruits Eric to help fix up the car to improve its market value. Everyone else stops by to "assist" with the process, and Tommy and Willie later enact a "nifty little con" in which they sell their old toys, which are in fact collectibles, for a hefty price. Beth stews over her sons' moneymaking scheme as Dave visits the car one last time. He suddenly has a brainwave for a new book.
Beth eventually tells the boys that they may do what they wish with their money, and Dave, hard at work on the new manuscript, has second thoughts about selling the Mustang, believing it to be his "muse." Beth and Dave are then surprised when Betty Langford, the mother of one of Willie's school friends, stops by and reveals that Willie gave her son a large amount of money to help out with his family's current troubles. They assure her that he did so of his own free will. Beth and Dave are pleased to see that their son has a generous side, though Willie informs them that he kept part of his haul. Later, Beth and Dave try to reenact some of their youthful passion inside the Mustang, with mixed results. Commercials deleted.
