PARKS AND RECREATION: ANDY AND APRIL'S FANCY PARTY (TV)

Summary

One in this mockumentary-style comedy series about the quirky staffers of Pawnee, Indiana's parks and recreation department. In this episode, Ron horrifies everyone with a macho dental-themed prank, and April and Andy, nearly a month into their relationship, invite all of their co-workers to a dinner party. Ben tells Leslie that Chris has offered him a job in Pawnee, though he is considering returning to Indianapolis instead, and Leslie struggles to hide her true feelings as she advises him to make a pro/con list. Ann attends a singles' night and runs into Donna, though Donna informs her that dating is a "zero-sum game" and she is not interested in fraternizing with the competition. Chris brings a horrible "vegetable loaf" cake to the dinner party, and Leslie is shocked to discover that the evening is actually a surprise wedding event. She warns April and Andy that they cannot enter into a marriage so impulsively and begs Ron to "knock some sense" into the couple, though he points out that it is neither of their business. Tom is thrilled when Andy asks him to be his best man, though less so when Andy asks the same of several other men at the party, and Tom attempts to throw an impromptu bachelor party to prove that he is the "best best man."

Donna comes to Ann's rescue when she proves to be a terrible flirt, though Leslie soon frantically calls with the news that Ann's ex-boyfriend is about to be married. The bizarre-yet-sweet ceremony is a success, however, and Ron assures Leslie that she did the right thing in not interfering, stating that relationships are about taking a chance on the person who seems most right. April's sister delivers an unenthusiastic toast, and though Tom seeks sage advice from Jean-Ralphio on his best man speech, he is again upstaged by Andy's grandmother. At the bar, Donna advises Ann to "change her attitude" and pursue an interesting man, and Andy performs a song for his new bride as Chris "bonds" with April's strange friend Orin. April uncharacteristically voices her affection for Leslie, and Leslie, inspired by the night's events, tells Ben that he should stay in Pawnee after all, and he admits that he has already accepted the job. Later, Donna's advice to Ann seems to pay off, and the happy couple calls the office from their honeymoon, clearly still pleased with their decision. Commercials deleted.
