IF LOVING YOU IS WRONG: LOOK CLOSELY (TV)
Summary
One in this serialized dramatic series, loosely based on the 2014 film "The Singles Moms Club," about the complicated personal lives of several married couples. In this episode, Marcie tearfully tells her friends that Randal is cheating on her with an unknown woman whom he has codenamed "Peppa." Once alone, Kelly confronts Alex and forces her to admit that she herself is Peppa, and Alex confesses that she cannot bring herself to end the five-month affair despite her strong sense of guilt. She swears that her unborn child is not Randal's, and Kelly urges her to end the relationship and admit to truth to her friend. Natalie tells Esperanza about the robbery at Burger Fast, and though Esperanza complains that Eddie has been acting strangely controlling as of late, Natalie observes that she is likely still in love with her ex. While out on a call, Lushion tries to question Eddie about his harrowing experience in the war, suggesting that he should talk to a psychologist about his trauma, but Eddie harshly refuses his advice. Marcie confronts Randal with his damning e-mails to and from "Peppa" and furiously demands to know his mistress' identity, though he declines to elaborate.
Lushion visits Natalie's home and finds that she still believes Joey to be guilty of the robbery, possibly thanks to his biological father's negative influence, though Lushion points out that he himself is helping to raise their children. Joey confronts Quan on the basketball court and accuses him of committing the robbery himself, and though Quan denies it, Joey assaults him and takes his money. Brad finds Eddie talking with some questionable individuals, and Eddie admits that he is recruiting an "army," explaining that Julius has cartel connections and shot up his home in retaliation for Eddie shooting him in the leg. Brad urges him not to antagonize the dangerous criminals, but Eddie remains determined to defend his family. Travis arrives at Kelly's home with flowers and suggests that they should tell Justice the truth about his paternity, but Kelly orders him to leave her alone for good. Travis protests that he genuinely loves her, but Kelly points out that he was the one to ruin their relationship by proposing to someone else while in Haiti.
Joey barges into Burger Fast and gives his mother the missing $3,800, explaining that he took it from Quan, the likely culprit. Natalie panics and orders him to return it, knowing that Joey has violated his probation and that Quan will likely retaliate, but Joey forces Faun to accept the cash and leaves. Marcie asks Kelly for help in finding out the identity of Peppa, and Kelly, torn between her two friends but familiar with the pain of betrayal, pointedly tells her to "look closely" to discover the truth. Marcie then spots the telltale bumper sticker on Alex's car and makes the connection, and she attacks Randal in a rage, devastated that his mistress is none other than her close friend.
