LIVING SINGLE: CRAPPY BIRTHDAY (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a group of black friends living in a Brooklyn brownstone. In this episode, Khadijah's friends excitedly prepare for her birthday, intending to surprise her with a road trip to Atlantic City and determined to "kidnap" her if need be. She protests that she would rather spend the day relaxing at home, but Regine, Synclaire and Max hustle her into the car, leaving Kyle and Overton behind to "water the plants," though they soon end up causing harm to Khadijah's apartment as they settle in. After a few hours of Max's erratic driving and a prank on Synclaire, they arrive in Atlantic City and Max dashes off to go gamble, and when Khadijah calls home to check her messages, she finds Overton and Kyle still there performing a "routine security check." Out in the casino, Max and Regine lose all of their money, but when they steal Khadijah's twenty from Synclaire, they end up making $700. They begin to fight over the money, and Regine and Max attempt to increase their winnings while Synclaire is forced to distract Khadijah, a job made easier when they run into comedian Flip Wilson.

Kyle and Overton make things worse as they attempt to repair Khadijah's home, and Khadijah catches her friends at the tables with her money, but they encourage her to try her own luck and she soon wins a great deal more. Ed McMahon stops by and reveals that she has also won his million-dollar sweepstakes, but Khadijah then awakens in the car and discovers that the amazing adventure was a dream and in reality they were all thrown from the casino after she lost her money and made a drunken scene. Back at home, she vows to get her friends back for the disappointing trip on their own birthdays, and Overton and Kyle hurriedly leave just as she discovers their "handiwork" around her home. Commercials deleted.
