MODERN FAMILY: WON'T YOU BE OUR NEIGHBOR (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series, a "mockumentary" about the eccentric individuals comprising three inter-related families in Los Angeles. In this episode, Claire is excited when Phil is tasked with selling their newly single neighbor Jerry's house, and she zeroes in on a seemingly perfect couple, Lisa and George, as the ideal new residents. Jay is outraged to learn that Manny is dating Sophie Chambers, granddaughter of his former business partner-turned-archrival, Earl Chambers, and Mitch and Cam scheme to have Lily, who is frequently overwhelmed by the demands of her strict second-grade teacher, Mrs. Plank, reassigned to be with the kindly Miss Sparrow. Phil and Claire are alarmed when a far less desirable family, the loud and trashy Ronnie and Amber and their two children, fall in love with Jerry's house and, not fooled by Phil's half-hearted "realtor tricks," make an extremely generous offer.

The intimidating Mrs. Plank informs Mitch and Cam that she will not stop Lily from switching classes, but warns them that the "New Age" Miss Sparrow is a substandard educator. Gloria forces Earl and Jay to bury the hatchet over dinner, and the two old friends butt heads as Earl too expresses displeasure at the idea of their kids' teen romance. George and Lisa, unsettled by Claire and Phil's over-the-top attempts to "woo" them, withdraw their offer on the house, and Mitch and Cam is taken aback to find that Lily actually enjoys the challenge of Mrs. Plank's class and does not wish to change. Earl meets the sweet-natured and obviously harmless Manny and decides that he is no longer worried about Sophie, and he then steals Jay's new invention, "the Sock 'n' Roll," for good measure. Phil balks at the idea of violating his self-imposed "realtor oath" to serve his client's needs, and when he sees Jerry's desperate situation, he gives in and accepts Ronnie and Amber's offer, assuring Claire that they will "end up loving them." Later, Mitch and Cam timidly visit Mrs. Plank again to beg for Lily's spot back. Include commercials and promos.
