TRANSFORMERS, THE: WAR DAWN (TV)
Summary
One in this series of animated science-fiction programs about shape-shifting alien robots and their endless struggle for power and peace, based in the multimedia universe created by Hasbro Toys. In this episode, the newly created Aerialbots pursue the Decepticons through the skies, rescuing their human captives from certain death when they release them in midair. Back at their base, the Aerialbots admit that the Decepticons are exceptional skilled, though the exasperated Autobots remind the "younger" bots that they are in fact evil. Optimus Prime then learns of strange energy readings from Cybertron and heads off to investigate, and on Cybertron, a fuming Megatron, who has been constructing a time machine known as a "Kronosphere," is pleased to hear that his nemesis is speeding towards his trap. Arriving on Cybertron, Slingshot requests to speak with the Decepticons, wondering why Optimus regards them as villains, and the Decepticons take advantage of the parlay to ensnare them in the Kronosphere and send them back nine million years in time. The Autobots attack and cause the Decepticons to retreat, quickly realizing that they must repair the machine in order to retrieve their friends from the past.
The Aerialbots are stunned to find themselves in the pre-war "Golden Age," and they soon encounter a young bot named Orion Pax and his girlfriend Ariel. They spot the Decepticons flying above, and when Orion unknowingly allows Megatron to "store his wares" in his storehouse, Megatron attacks and robs his energy stock, leaving Orion and Ariel for dead. In the present, Megatron and his team find a headless Guardian robot and decide to reactivate it to recover the Kronosphere from the Autobots, while in the past Slingshot agrees that the Decepticons are indeed evil after all and vows revenge. A young Alpha Trion offers to help, and he rebuilds Orion and Ariel into none other than Optimus Prime and Elita One. The new Optimus confronts Megatron as the Aerialbots find the Decepticons raiding the energy stores, and they resolve to blow up the storehouse to prevent them from harming the future, aware that they themselves will not be able to escape. Just as they prepare to sacrifice themselves, they are transported back to the present by the repaired Kronosphere, and they unite to become the Superion and destroy the revived Guardian. Megatron escapes, and when Silverbolt describes their adventures in the past, Optimus is amazed to realize that his friends were the ones to save him long ago. Commercials deleted.
