BALLANTINE BEER {STAN FREBERG COMMERCIAL REEL,
1960-1984}

Summary

In this commercial for Ballantine Beer, "Mr. Ballantine" is shown sitting with his wife and two adult children in the living room of their home. He launches into a long story about how a few years back, some in-laws changed his beer recipe while he was out of the country and before long, customers started switching to other beers in droves. One by one, the other family members start reciting the same litany, which they've apparently heard many times before. They point out that Ballantine has switched back to its original recipe. "Mrs. Ballantine" suggests that if the beer business doesn't pick up, they can start making pretzels, since they're already depicted on the Ballantine label. "All these years you thought that was a pretzel on there?" asks a mortified "Mr. Ballantine."
