Summary
In this ad for Chun King Chow Mein, producer Stan Freberg explains to a colleague that he's decided to stop making entertaining commercials. "Chun King has been giving people all that funny stuff," he says, "and evidently that isn't what they wanted because they haven't been taking the Chow Mein off the shelves." He suggests that he'll just have to start making "regular commercials" like everybody else. When his colleague wonders what the flashing lights and tap dancers are for, Freberg replies that "you've got to give them a little entertainment." The spot segues into a parody of a commercial for hair coloring, as a housewife sits down to a meal with her husband. "Could it, or couldn't it be Chun King Chow Mein?" a velvet-voiced announcer asks. "Only her grocer knows."
