BRITISH ELECTRIC CONSORTIUM: TERRY
{32ND INTERNATIONAL BROADCASTING AWARDS: 1991}

Summary

This commercial for a consortium of British utility companies uses claymation animation techniques and a quasi "man-in-the-street" interview format to highlight the benefits of electric heat. A turtle named Terry explains that he loves coming back to a well-heated "flat" after "freezing to death outside on a ten mile slog." He goes on to say that he likes a heating system that's easily to control, because he doesn't have much spare time due to his busy schedule. "It should be something fairly modern in design," he says, "and it's got to be easily turn-off-and-on-able." Slogan (supered): "Heat Electric. For all your creature comforts." This ad was selected as a Trophy Winner at the 32nd International Broadcasting Awards (Category: Animation).
