Summary
This program presents a portion of coverage of the 1980 XIII Olympic Winter Games from Lake Placid. Highlights of this portion include coverage of the following events and topics: Anchor sports commentator Jim McKay presides throughout this portion and introduces various events and highlights. Sports commentator Keith Jackson does a retrospective of all of the logistical considerations involved in positioning cameras in the correct locations in order to capture all of the action. Jackson shows and discusses all of the ABC staff including editors, directors, and behind the scenes workers who put on the broadcast. Musician Chuck Mangione plays his trumpet and along with his band, performing the "Lake Placid Fanfare." McKay covers the Closing Ceremony live from the Olympic Ice Center; the Olympic Flame is placed inside for the first time since the beginning of Olympic competition. Musician Chuck Mangione and his band play "Give It All You Got" in a tribute to the athletes. McKay covers the 27th Lancers Marching Band and Drum Corps from Massachusetts which is providing entertainment to the crowd prior to the closing ceremony.
