HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, THE {ANNIVERSARY WEEK SPECIAL} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of game shows in which contestants must guess whether one of nine celebrities arrayed on an enormous tic-tac-toe board has correctly answered a trivia question. This incomplete program features of an hour-long special anniversary episode with rotating panelists. Host Peter Marshall queries contestants and celebrities, including actress Karen Grassle, actor Demond Wilson, actress Rose Marie, actor Robert Blake, actor Michael Landon, comedian Redd Foxx, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, actress Jessica Walter, actor Anson Williams, comedian George Gobel and Paul Lynde.
In this program, Grassle is the first "secret square," and Mr. X wins the first round thanks to Blake's correct answer. Ms. O wins the second round thanks to Gobel, and wins the third after disagreeing with Gabor's incorrect guess, then receiving a bonus prize: a trip to Denmark.
A second Mr. X joins the game, and his idiosyncratic laugh provides great comic fodder for the panelists for the rest of the program. Mr. X wins the first round – and a trip to Hawaii – by disagreeing with Wilson's incorrect guess about literature. Mr. X then wins two more rounds thanks to Lynde and Redd and becomes the champion, earning a trip to the Matterhorn in addition to his other prizes. A new Ms. O joins the game, but the program cuts shortly into her first round. Commercials deleted.
