Summary
One in this music/variety series hosted by Sammy Davis, Jr. The program begins as Davis takes the stage and sings "Yes I Can," accompanied by a tap dance, followed by "My Funny Valentine" and a reworded version of "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" from "Show Boat." He then introduces comedian Bob Melvin, who takes the stage and performs his stand-up routine, teasing his "classy" friend Davis. Davis sings "Too Marvelous For Words" and then introduces Barbara McNair, who sings "Yesterday" and "On Second Thought," accompanied by dancers. Next, George Maharis emerges and sings "What the World Needs Now Is Love" and "The More I See You," after which he and Davis banter and sing a modified version of "King of the Road." Juliet Prowse then performs "Ten Cents a Dance," and Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich take the stage and play the drums while Davis dances to "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)." Davis, McNair, Maharis and Prowse regroup as the "Sammy Davis Serious Players" and sing a medley version of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from "Mary Poppins" during which McNair imitates Carol Channing and sings "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", Davis sings "Yankee Doodle Dandy" as James Cagney, Prowse sings "On the Good Ship Lollipop" as Shirley Temple, and Maharis sings "Birth of the Blues" as Davis. Davis closes the show by previewing the following episode and continuing "Birth of the Blues." Includes commercials.
