DINAH SHORE SHOW, THE {BOBBY DARIN, ANDRE PREVIN} (TV)
Summary
This musical/variety special, hosted by Dinah Shore and based on the theme of "a boy, a girl and a piano," features special guests Bobby Darin and Andre Previn. All three take the stage, and Previn plays the piano as Shore and Darin sing a medley of "When You're Smiling" and "Smile." Shore then sings "The Man I Love" and introduces Darin, who refutes his reputation of being "a general pain," and Previn, though she warns them both that thanks to her income taxes due on April 15, the show will be a simple one that evening and not her usual lavish production. Darin sings "Blue Skies," and Shore joins him for "Everybody's Doin' It" and "Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love" atop Previn's piano. Previn then plays his Oscar-nominated song "Second Chance" from the film "Two for the Seesaw" (1962), and Shore discusses his many Academy Award nominations. He then plays one of his "flop" songs, "Control Yourself," and accompanies Shore as she sings a slow rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" and "I've Got You Under My Skin."
Next, Darin sings "Long Time Man" and "Work Song" solo, and Shore joins him for "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)" as Previn plays and improvises some jazz. Shore and Darin sing "Bidin' My Time," "Lazy Afternoon" and "If I Had My Druthers," and Shore sings "Just In Time" and "You Made Me Love You" solo. The three performers then close the show with "Empty Pockets Filled With Love," with Previn joining the other two on the floor on a tiny piano. Includes commercials and promos.
