LUCY SHOW, THE: TOGETHER FOR CHRISTMAS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series starring Lucille Ball as Lucy Carmichael.
Lucy and Vivian are spending their first Christmas together, accompanied by their children. However, arguments soon erupt between Lucy and Vivian over their contradictory Christmas traditions. They can’t seem to agree on anything, from their choice of Christmas dinner to what sort of tree they want to have.
Later, Lucy and Vivian each put up their own vastly different Christmas trees. While the kids are out shopping, Lucy and Vivian argue further over Christmas traditions. Finally they are so fed up that each one declares they’ll be returning to their hometowns for Christmas. They prepare to go their separate ways but can’t decide who will tell the children of the change of plans. Before they can tell them, the children announce they’ve been invited to all sorts of Christmas activities for Christmas Eve. Lucy and Vivian don’t have the heart to take them away from all that and change their minds about leaving.
The children go caroling as Lucy and Vivian prepare Christmas dinner. They continue to argue and begin sabotaging each others’ efforts to decorate their respective trees. Soon their trees are all-but destroyed. When the Christmas carolers return, they realize what they’ve done and hastily work to fix the damage by combining their two trees into one. The carolers enter and sing. The episode ends as the sight of the carolers moves Lucy and Vivian into forgiving each other. Commercials deleted.
