ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET, THE: JET PILOT (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running domestic comedy series about the real-life Nelson family: Ozzie Nelson and his wife Harriet Hilliard, a former band leader and band singer respectively, and their two sons, David and Ricky. In this episode, David and Ricky help young neighbor Terry with his model airplane. In the meantime, they hear Ozzie practicing his speech to be given at the dedication of the town’s new Air Force base. When Air Force Colonel Claypool arrives at the house, Ricky asks if Ozzie can take a ride in one of the new jets. To Ozzie’s relief, the colonel says that it’s against policy. When Ozzie finally gives his speech, a malfunctioning microphone makes his task a bit challenging. But upon the talk’s completion, the colonel says he got special permission for Ozzie to ride in one of the jets. The next day, Ozzie expresses his reservations about the flight to Harriet. On the afternoon of Ozzie’s adventure, he almost backs out. Once in the air, however, Ozzie takes in too much oxygen, making him feel like he’s had a bottle of champagne. An “inebriated” Ozzie then taunts the pilot into taking a “power dive.” Afterward, Ozzie tells the family that oxygen is “wonderful stuff.” Includes commercials.
