ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET, THE: RICK GETS EVEN (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running domestic comedy series about the real-life Nelson family: Ozzie Nelson and his wife Harriet Hilliard, a former band leader and band singer respectively, and their two sons, David and Ricky. In this episode, Harriet introduces a rebroadcast of an earlier program. Rick borrows David’s car to meet Wally at the malt shop. They speculate on why fellow student Cathy keeps turning down their offers for a date. Outside, Rick finds that Cathy backed into David’s car and dented the fender. He then asks her out on a date. She agrees, but asks him not to report the accident to the insurance company. Cathy says she’ll pay for the damage by doing errands for him, an offer that he declines. Back at the house, David is furious about the dent, and won’t accept Cathy’s means of recompense. Ozzie and Harriet then weigh in on the situation, with David contending that Cathy agreed to the date simply to get out of paying damages. Cathy then calls and cancels the date. In revenge, Rick accepts Cathy’s offer and makes her his “personal secretary.” Rick keeps Cathy jumping, and is finally guilted into calling off the arrangement by David and Harriet. Arriving to pick up some papers at Cathy’s house, Rick is told by Mrs. Stewart that Cathy has a crush on him. Rick finds out that Cathy broke the date because she didn’t have the money for a new dress. Later, David finds a note indicating that Cathy wasn’t the one who dented his car. Accordingly, Rick pays Cathy for the work she did, and she buys a new dress for the dance. There, Rick and David confront Harriet about her “secret” role in trying to rectify the situation. Finally, Rick sings “For You.” Includes commercials.
