ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET, THE: MAN WITHOUT A FAMILY (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running domestic comedy series about the real-life Nelson family: Ozzie Nelson and his wife Harriet Hilliard, a former band leader and band singer respectively, and their two sons, David and Ricky. In this episode, David complains about the house being crowded every night with Ricky’s buddies. Later, Ozzie tries to help the boys do their homework by discussing his interpretation of the short story “The Man Without a Country.” The next morning, David says he can’t get work done on his term paper due to all the noise caused by Ricky’s friends, a sentiment echoed by Ozzie. Ricky takes the hint and moves the group to another friend’s house. Soon, the family misses the commotion. At the malt shop, Ozzie runs into Mr. Hoffman, whose house the boys are now using. His description of the goings-on makes Ozzie sorry that he “ran them out.” Soon, Ozzie feels like the hero in “The Man Without a Country,” for having spoken without thinking about the consequences. He even dreams of himself in a version of the story. Later, Ozzie finds an excuse to crash the party that Ricky and his friends are having at the nearby Darby home. The following Saturday, Ricky tells Ozzie that the gang’s party needs a venue and Ozzie gladly offers his house. There, Ricky sings “Be Bop Baby.” Finally, Harriet reveals her part in having turned the situation around. Includes commercials.
