ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET, THE: OZZIE'S DAUGHTERS (TV)
Summary
One in this long-running domestic comedy series about the real-life Nelson family: Ozzie Nelson and his wife Harriet Hilliard, a former band leader and band singer respectively, and their two sons, David and Ricky. In this episode, David and Ricky temporarily move into a fraternity so that the two girls that David invited to their dance – both of whom live sixty miles away – can bunk in the boys’ room. Ozzie and Harriet speculate on what it will be like to have two young girls in the house. They find out soon enough when Linda and Joan arrive and settle into their “home away from home.” When David and Ricky come to pick up the girls, Ozzie finds himself grilling them on their plans, and what time they’ll bring the girls back. Throughout the evening, Ozzie finds himself thinking of Linda and Joan as his “daughters.” Accordingly, he starts to worry when the girls aren’t in their room by 2 a.m. Ozzie heads over to the country club, where the dance was held, and finds that the boys have gone. Later, Ozzie sees David’s empty car in a remote spot and looks inside, after which police accuse Ozzie of trying to break into the vehicle. When Ozzie returns to his house, he finds everyone has congregated there upon abandoning David’s broken-down auto. Ricky entertains the group by singing “Lonesome Town.” Finally, Ozzie admits to having been worried and endures some good-natured ribbing from Harriet. Includes commercials.
