F TROOP: THE SINGING MOUNTIE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the soldiers of F-Troop, stationed at Fort Courage in post-Civil War Missouri. In this episode, Agarn is surprised by a visit from his French-Canadian fur-trapper cousin, "Lucky" Pierre, who explains that he is hiding from crooks who want to steal his unique cross-breed pelts. Agarn suggests that he hide amongst the Native Americans, with whom they are friendly, and O'Rourke is intrigued by the prospect of getting into the fur business. Just then, Sergeant Ramsden of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrives, singing merrily and saying he is hunting a notorious fur thief, Lucky Pierre. Agarn is distressed, but tells O'Rourke that he cannot turn in his family member. Ramsden spots Agarn and becomes immediately suspicious of the Pierre-lookalike, and Agarn accidentally lets slip that he is his cousin. Ramsden places him under house arrest, thinking that he is an accomplice, and takes time to flirt with Wrangler Jane, serenading her in song.
O'Rourke heads off to the natives' land and finds Pierre there, explaining about Agarn's arrest, and Pierre realizes that the true culprit is the elusive Burglar of Banff. O'Rourke returns to the fort and assures Ramsden of Agarn's innocence, but Ramsden uses his "criminology" skills to deduce that Pierre is indeed currently in the area and vowing to "get his man." O'Rourke pretends to know nothing, but Captain Wilton suggests that Pierre is hiding amongst the natives and heads off to look. Despite O'Rourke's efforts to divert him, Wilton finds Pierre, but when he imitates Ramsden's infamous baritone singing voice, Wilton realizes that the officer back at the fort is a tenor and is therefore not the real "Singing Mountie," but is in fact the Burglar of Bamff himself in disguise. Pierre accompanies them back to the fort and confronts the imposter, who is arrested. When the real Singing Mountie finally arrives, he too attempts to flirt with Wrangler Jane in song. Includes commercials.
