HAVE GUN – WILL TRAVEL: THE HANGING OF ROY CARTER (TV)

Summary

One in this series of Western dramas about Paladin, a principled and cultured gun-for-hire. In this episode, Paladin attempts to delay the hanging of an innocent man until vital evidence can arrive at the state penitentary. Having apprehended a horse thief named Keno, Paladin is accosted by a vigilante posse who wish to lynch the swindler. The posse's leader is Sidney Carter, whose son Roy is to be hanged because of Keno's betrayal. Paladin persuades the stubborn, vengeful father to allow the man to confess and save his son's life. Complications ensue, however, and the confession does not arrive at the penitentiary when Paladin does. When Paladin's plea for additional time draws no mercy from the intractable Warden Bullock, he must take desperate measures to prevent Roy's execution. Commercials deleted.
