REBEL, THE: THE WAITING (TV)
Summary
One in this series of western dramas about the adventures of Johnny Yuma, an ex-confederate soldier who wanders the American frontier during the years following the Civil War. When Johnny wanders into a saloon during a storm, he finds himself embroiled in a plot centered around an outlaw named the Yellow Sky Kid with an enormous bounty on his name. Tom Hall, a bounty hunter, is keeping Mike the bartender and the Kid's wife Cassie hostage in the saloon until the Kid arrives. He decides to hold Johnny hostage as well. Hall claims that the Kid will be his final job, and he'll use the bounty to retire so he can live with his wife and children. Cassie suspects that Hall wants to retire due to the deterioration of his gunslinging skills from age. When Hall notices that Johnny bears a close physical resemblance to the Yellow Sky Kid, he makes a deal with Cassie: he will kill Johnny and dress him as the Kid so as to collect the bounty, and Cassie will be able to live a safe life with her husband, whom everyone will assume is dead. Cassie reluctantly agrees to Hall's plan, much to Johnny's disgust. He tries to convince her not to go through with it, and points out that Mike would have to be killed as well to protect the secret. When Johnny tries to draw his gun on Hall, Hall beats him to it and has Johnny empty his gun. The town sheriff visits the saloon and Johnny reveals Hall's plan to him. However, the sheriff is unwilling to stop Hall, seemingly afraid of him. Johnny, enraged, punches the sheriff and throws him out of the saloon. Johnny tells Hall that the Kid may not like his scheme, but Hall is sure that he'll comply if Cassie convinces him. Eventually the Yellow Sky Kid arrives and stops outside the door. Cassie apprises him of the situation and he enters, gun at the ready. Johnny draws his gun and Hall instinctually moves to fire upon him despite Johnny's gun being empty. This gives the Yellow Sky Kid the opportunity to shoot Hall. Mike uses his rifle to shoot the Yellow Sky Kid in the face, killing him. Cassie is beside herself. Mike claims he did it out of self-preservation and has no desire to collect the bounty. The sheriff returns and proposes they split the bounty on the Kid, but Johnny and Cassie convince him that the body is not the Kid's, and the sheriff cannot verify it due to the damage to his face. The episode ends as Johnny leaves the saloon. Commercials deleted.
