I LOVE LUCY: BON VOYAGE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about the escapades of Lucy Ricardo, a zany redheaded housewife with show business aspirations, her Cuban-born bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, and their best friends and neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz.
Lucy, Ricky, Ethel, and Fred are all going on a trans-Atlantic cruise. As they wave goodbye from the deck, Lucy can’t help but get off the boat to give one last kiss goodbye to her son. Her dress gets caught in a passing bicyclists’ chain, preventing her from re-entering the ship as it leaves. Ricky panics; the captain recommends that Lucy get on the pilot boat to catch up. Ricky calls the dock agent and informs Lucy of this. However, Lucy manages to miss the pilot boat as well.
Lucy is left with no other option save one: get a ride in a helicopter to bring her to the cruise ship. The helicopter ride is quite frightening to Lucy, made no easier by the revelation that she won’t be landing on the ship: instead she must strap on a harness and be lowered on a cable onto the deck. She is extremely reluctant to go through with it, but manages to get lowered down safely. She faints almost immediately afterwards. Includes commercials.
