KNOTS LANDING: FLIGHT OF THE SUNBIRDS (TV)

Summary

One in this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing. In this episode, Karen awkwardly attempts to bond with her new daughter-in-law, Linda, but they disagree over Karen's plans for a wedding reception. Al repeats his proposal to Lilimae, but she says that she cannot leave Val to raise the twins on her own. Karen tells her friends about Eric's elopement, and when she invites Abby to the reception, Abby is doubtful that Charles will attend as well. Greg interviews a potential nanny, stressing that the position is temporary, still hoping that Laura will survive her brain tumor and return to him. Al buys a camper to impress Lilimae and they continue debating marriage, and Val is shocked to hear of his proposal, questioning her mother's refusal and telling her not to use her as an excuse. Finally, Lilimae suggests that they live together, and Al is pleased.

Charles stands Abby up at dinner yet again, and she flashes back to his betrayal years ago when he broke her heart by marrying someone else. At Eric and Linda's reception, Greg arrives with baby Meg and Gary and Val argue about their children, as usual. Abby questions Gary's closeness with his ex, doubting that it is all "for the kids," and when Jill arrives, Abby taunts her, implying that Gary and Val are having an affair. Karen grows increasingly frustrated with Linda, though Mack says that she will "grow on her," but Eric then gives his mother a heartfelt speech about the good influence that she has had on him. Michael struggles to appease his date, the insecure Jody. Lilimae retrieves Al's beloved old car, and he is touched by the gesture. Linda thanks Karen for raising such a good son as they prepare to leave on their honeymoon, and Karen seems to reconsider her opinion of her. At home, Gary jokes with Val about the others' perception that they are having an affair, but it is clear that they are both still drawn to one another. Later that night, Greg receives a phone call and learns that Laura has died. Commercials deleted.
