WHAT'S MY LINE? {MYSTERY GUEST: GERTRUDE BERG} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of panel game shows in which celebrity panelists engage in witty banter as they try to guess the unusual occupations of the guests. On this program, host John Daly presides over a panel that consists of journalist Dorothy Kilgallen, entertainer Steve Allen, actress Faye Emerson, and publisher Bennett Cerf.
Employing only yes-or-no questions, they try to discover the vocations of Max Fogel of Brooklyn, New York, who manufactures anti-snoring devices, and after a lot of confusion about the physical description of the item, the panelists are unable to get the right answer. Next, they question Abraham Moss of England, who is the Lord Mayor of Manchester, and Kilgallen guesses correctly; Daly throws in a few extra points and challenges the panelists to guess from exactly which city Moss hails.
After donning blindfolds, the panelists then attempt to guess the identities of the week's mystery guest, actress and writer Gertrude Berg, best known for her role as "Molly Goldberg" on the radio-turned-television family comedy "The Goldbergs." Allen guesses correctly, and Berg demonstrates the distinctive voice used for the character. Finally, Daly reminds viewers how to submit themselves as potential guests on the show. Includes commercials.
