WHAT'S MY LINE? {MYSTERY GUEST: MISS AMERICA NEVA JANE LANGLEY} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of panel game shows in which celebrity panelists engage in witty banter as they try to guess the unusual occupations of the guests. In this episode, host John Daly presides over a panel which includes actress Faye Emerson, publisher Bennett Cerf, actress Arlene Francis, and comedian Hal Block. The panelists are permitted to meet and inspect the contestants prior to questioning, and are allowed one free guess each. Employing only yes-or-no questions, the panel first attempts to discover the "line" of Judith Georgeseu of Paris, France, who is a can-can dancer, and Cerf eventually guesses correctly. Next up is Thomas J. Kalmanir, Jr. of Las Vegas, who is a professional football player. Francis guesses correctly on her free turn, judging by his shoulders, and Kalmanir is awarded $25 as a consolation prize. After donning blindfolds, the panel attempts to discover the identity of this week's mystery guest, Miss America winner Neva Jane Langley, and Block gets the right answer. Finally, Mima Novick of Cleveland, who makes fly swatters, is questioned, but time runs out before the panel can discover her profession. Daly previews next week's guests, and the panel bids one another and the audience good night. Includes commercials.
