SPIN CITY: MAYOR OVER MIAMI {SEASON ONE FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the Deputy Mayor of New York City and his co-workers at City Hall as they deal with problems both professional and personal. Everyone at the office is surprised to learn that Stuart has a girlfriend, Carolyn, who seems like a well-adjusted person. The mayor is getting disillusioned and struggles with many problems both personal and professional, not the least of which is his wife divorcing him. Soon the mayor's troubles result in him suffering a slow emotional breakdown. Meanwhile, Paul is nervous because Claudia is moving in with him. Michael gathers his co-workers at his apartment to throw a surprise party for the mayor to cheer him up. They notice that Stuart acts like a completely different person around Carolyn, acting like the exact opposite of his usual surly, disagreeable self. Paul is with the mayor at the office commiserating with him over their various troubles. Instead of going to Michael's apartment, the mayor decides to fly to Miami with Paul. The office figures out that the mayor and Paul are missing and panic. They get them on the phone, but the mayor hangs up on Michael. While the mayor and Paul are relaxing in Miami, Michael scrambles to appease the press and keep everything in order around the office, maintaining the "illusion" that the Mayor is still in New York. The mayor gives Paul advice on picking up women, but Paul's attempts to do so are unsuccessful. Stuart realizes that he changes around Carolyn and is being dishonest with her, but can't bring himself to tell her. Claudia visits Michael and asks him for reassurance about Paul's relationship with her before revealing that she knows his location. In Miami, Paul can't help thinking about Claudia and wants to call her despite the mayor's insistence that he does not. The episode ends as Michael boards a plane bound for Miami, determined to straighten everything out. Includes commercials.
