STEP BY STEP: HOW THE WEST WAS WON (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about divorced father-of-three Frank Lambert and widowed mother-of-three Carol Foster who bring their families together when they marry. In this episode, Frank tasks the kids with a number of household chores, and then is dismayed to return home and find the place in disarray. He complains that he is tired of being the "sheriff" of the household, and then falls asleep and enters and Old West-style dream in which his family members are the patrons of a saloon. Miss Kitty, who resembles Carol, sings a song about how the town has gone to seed, and the villainous Black Bart Rieupeyroux arrives and demands Miss Kitty's hand in marriage, threatening to turn the entire town French if she refuses. She laments that Sheriff Frank could save them, if only he was still "the man he used to be." Elsewhere, the sheriff's half-wit son T.J. attempts to rouse him from a drunken stupor, and a pair of recently-arrived newlyweds begs him to save them from Black Bart. The sheriff explains that the town used to be prosperous, but everyone began shirking their responsibilities and he eventually lost hope. He admits that he loves Miss Kitty, however, and resolves to help somehow.
At Bart and Kitty's would-be wedding ceremony, the sheriff bursts in and attempts to save the day. Bart vows not to leave unless forced, and when the sheriff shows off his marksmanship, they agree to a showdown at high noon the following day. With T.J.'s help, the sheriff sobers up and trains himself for the shoot-out, and arrives the next day in a fancy white suit, prepared to defend Miss Kitty's honor. The sheriff and Bart take their places, and the sheriff seemingly misses him with his shot, but the bullet ricochets expertly around the room and causes a chandelier to fall on Bart, defeating him. The sheriff and Kitty are married, and the entire town celebrates with a song. In a special 3D closing scene, Bart and Frank play cards, and the sheriff disposes of the cheater before sharing a kiss with his bride. Includes commercials.
