LOVE THAT BOB: MISS JOPLIN ARRIVES (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about ladies'-man photographer Bob Collins, also called "The Bob Cummings Show." In this episode, Bob flies in his plane as elsewhere, in the Ozarks, his eccentric grandfather brings his own rundown contraption in for a landing, then pondering visiting his grandson in California. Chuck gives Bob a telegram reporting that a beauty pageant winner from Joplin, Missouri, Miss Sue Todd, will soon be arriving with her mother to attend a dinner event at the Grove. Chuck is to be Miss Todd's escort for the evening, and he borrows Bob's tuxedo. Bob's grandfather calls and announces his intent to visit, and Bob suggests that he fly Sue and her mother in his plane. In the morning, Chuck tries on the tux, which has been altered by Margaret, and nervously practices for his meeting with Sue. Elsewhere, Grandpa Collins flies with Sue and her mother, swooping dangerously close to a mountain range, and they are alarmed to learn that he has no pilot's license.

Carol arrives to see Chuck and mistakenly believes that she is his date for the evening, but Bob lets slip about Sue and Carol is highly affronted. Aboard the plane, Grandpa offers his passengers a drink of wine, casually revealing that they have no parachutes. Wondering where his guests are, Bob makes a call and learns that Sue and Mrs. Todd are in the front cockpit of his grandfather's rickety plane and that their luggage is falling from the sky, and he quickly attempts to locate them on a map, calling his Army friends for assistance as well. Grandpa and the women are forced to land in a field, and Bob and Chuck soon arrive on the scene in Bob's plane. Chuck nervously greets the beauty queen, and Bob instructs Grandpa to fly Chuck and the women off to California in his own plane, planning to fly Grandpa's plane back himself. Once there, Sue prepares for the evening at the Grove and heads out with Bob, unaware that their "chauffeur" is really a jealous Carol in disguise. As Bob attempts to fly his grandfather's plane home, he is stopped by his military friends in jets, and despite his protests, he is forced to land in a cow pasture. Commercials deleted.
