POLITICALLY INCORRECT {DAVID CASSIDY, WENDIE MALICK, GLORIA ALLRED, ROY BLOUNT, JR.} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of spontaneous comedy talk shows hosted by Bill Maher. Maher presides over a no-holds-barred forum whose members come from the worlds of politics, journalism, and entertainment in order to discuss current events -- no matter how controversial. The program begins as Maher presents a monologue about current events in which he comments on the following topics: Mississippi Senator Trent Lott's disparaging comments about homosexuality; a recent execution in Texas; a Kansas man's bizarre death in a grain elevator; actress Brooke Shields' legal victory over a libelous U.K. tabloid; and a story of a woman who broadcast her childbirth online.
Maher then talks to humorist Roy Blount, Jr., attorney Gloria Allred, actress Wendie Malick and actor/singer David Cassidy, touching upon the following topics: a news story about a woman who is suing a hospital after being denied an epidural during childbirth because of her welfare status; views on impoverished individuals who have multiple children; the "barbaric" pain of childbirth and how epidurals benefit the infant as well as the mother; why tax money should be spent to assist the poor, rather than to fund expensive national security matters; a different lawsuit involving a pregnant teen and her parents' demands for medical funds from the teen father's parents; parents' responsibility in teaching their kids about safe sex; the negative affect of the lawsuit on the young lovers; a proposed law that would elevate domestic violence from a misdemeanor to a felony if the incident is witnessed by a child; debate about hate crime legislation and its consideration of a perpetrator's internal thoughts; and the need for parental training. Includes commercials and promos.
