DREW CAREY SHOW, THE: A HOUSE REUNITED (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedies starring stand-up comedian Drew Carey as a single guy who attempts to juggle his romantic endeavors and his menial job at a Cleveland department store, while still maintaining his sense of humor. Drew is still dealing with his house being gutted, and refuses to leave it despite being exposed to the elements, believing that Winfred-Louder will claim his house the instant he leaves. Celia returns and agrees to join Drew and help him, along with Oswald and Lewis. Mimi arrives and reveals that she’s been hired by the Winfred-Louder board of directors to drive Drew out of his house by any means necessary. She begins by using spotlights and loud music to keep Drew continuously awake for days on end. He continues to resist, and Larry and Chuck arrive to tell Drew that he was successful and that Winfred-Louder has decided not to construct the mall after all; the decision was made several days ago, meaning that Mimi has been torturing Drew of her own volition. They also reveal that they are moving into the neighborhood, as Winfred-Louder is renting the houses to its employees for cheap. Drew returns to work and plays a prank on Mimi to get revenge on her. Celia drops off his lunch at work and he asks her to move in with him, and she agrees. Drew’s friends grow uncomfortable when they notice Celia mothering Drew as part of their relationship, believing that he is essentially dating his mother. They leave, and Drew becomes uncomfortable too when he realizes Celia shares personality traits with his mother. Drew finds that the repair work on his house has left his kitchen slanted to one side, but Nigel and Winfred-Louder refuse to cover the additional repair costs. Celia tries to speak up for Drew and he threatens to sue the store. Eventually he convinces them to cover the repair costs and has a talk with Celia at home. She believes that she is starting to unconsciously act like his mother; Drew acknowledges this but believes that it shouldn’t represent too great an obstacle to their relationship. However, it becomes extremely awkward when Drew sees his mother’s face on Celia while they have sex, and they agree that Celia should move out. Includes commercials.
