OZ: LEGS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas set in the Oswald Maximum Security Penitentiary, nicknamed "Oz."
n this episode, Dr. Nathan is furious when Alvarez, denied his anti-depressants by new budget cuts, attempts suicide. Though Dr. Garvey attempts to fire her, Nathan bargains with Governor Devlin to enact some important changes for her patients. New inmate Nikolai Stanislofsky requests to "meet" Richie Hanlon regarding Vogel's murder, though Hanlon confides to Bellinger that Schillinger and the Aryans actually framed him for the crime. Bellinger suggests that he claim to have worked alongside Schillinger so that his nemesis will, at least, share his fate on Death Row.
The video of Snake murdering the Italian family appears on the news, much to Ryan's disgust, and Said tells the other gang leaders that Hill, who testified to a grand jury, must be protected. Nappa, angered by the senseless killing, has Snake murdered by the Italians. Ricardo hits a wall — literally — after receiving bad news about his ex; Glynn, not wanting to risk a prison-wide hunger strike, decides to give in to Said's demands to allow the Muslims to keep food in their cells in order to fast during the day. Howell is outraged when McManus admits his disinterest in a serious relationship with her, and she takes out her rage on Death Row inmate Bevilacqua. McManus begs Glynn to fire her, and Glynn soon introduces new supervisor Sean Murphy. Ryan quickly allies himself with his fellow Irish-American, who sympathizes with Ryan's vicious hatred of Schillinger. The brothers' Aunt Brenda visits and is upset to learn that Ryan is pushing Cyril to participate in boxing matches, though he points out her absence during their violent childhood. With Murphy's help, Ryan gives Cyril "an edge" in his first fight by drugging his opponent, Robson.
Rebadow collapses after missing a dialysis session, and his brush with death prompts him to change his mind about meeting his estranged son and grandson for the first time, which he soon does. Later, Nappa is shocked to learn from Nathan that he has been diagnosed HIV-positive, unaware that Adebisi secretly injected him with Gerth's blood. Despite his protests, the strongly homophobic Nappa is moved into an isolation ward with the other HIV/AIDS patients. Keller recovers from his stabbing, which McManus assumes to have been the work of Schillinger or his lackeys, and Keller asks Sister Pete's help in earning Beecher's true forgiveness for his actions. Back in their cell, a still-angry Beecher hints that he himself may have stabbed Keller and killed Officer Metzger. Later, a new prisoner arrives at Oz: Andrew Schillinger, Vern's son, convicted for his part in a racially motivated murder.
