LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: CALL ME A TAXI (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Laverne informs Shirley that their section at the brewery has been laid off for three weeks. Edna tells them that she understands if they are subsequently late with the rent. The girls fume when Lenny and Squiggy give Edna their rent in advance, as they have been getting extra hours. At Frank's pizza parlor, Rosie openly taunts the girls about their currently unemployed status. Carmine then hears about taxi dancer openings at a local dive where staffers earn ten cents per dance. Laverne and Shirley apply for jobs, even though dancer Charmayne threatens them with a knife if they steal any of her customers.
The girls are immediately approached by a pair of lotharios who give them a workout on the floor. However, the rest of the customers fail to request dances. Laverne and Shirley then try to make themselves appear sexier. The ruse works, leaving the twosome exhausted from the successful results. After Lenny and Squiggy make an appearance, disguised as big game hunters, Frank shows up and reads the riot act to the girls. He then offers them jobs at his pizza parlor to assist Mary. There, they get even with the ever-truculent Rosie for her earlier behavior. Commercials deleted.
