LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: ONE HECKUVA NOTE (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Shirley finds a note behind the stove as she cleans the kitchen with Laverne. Upon reading the crumbled missive, Shirley screams, then discloses that it’s a love note from Carmine to Laverne. Laverne subsequently opts to tell Shirley what happened with Carmine three years ago. Laverne recalls how Shirley was called away one evening and Laverne took her place at the rodeo with Carmine. The pair returned from their night out and couldn’t deny a mutual attraction. After they kissed, Laverne made him leave the apartment. The next day, Laverne met her new landlady, Edna Babish, at the Pizza Bowl. Edna was immediately attracted to Frank and ordered twenty pizzas for a tenants’ party, getting Frank’s attention in the process.
Shirley soon arrived and said she had to break her date with Carmen. Then, she asked Laverne and Carmine to eat the dinner that she had prepared at home. Later, Carmine came to the apartment with flowers and found a dolled-up Laverne. Laverne chopped up the flowers and threw the note behind the stove to get rid of any evidence. Over dinner, Carmine and Laverne noticed irritating quirks about each other, thus realizing that they’re not in love. They agreed to never tell Shirley the story. Back in the present, Laverne admits that she should have been honest with Shirley. Shirley then reveals how she dated one of Laverne’s boyfriends when Laverne was in the hospital. Commercials deleted.
