LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: HERE TODAY, HAIR TOMORROW {SERIES FINALE} (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.

In this episode, Rhonda tells Frank that she thinks Carmine may be suicidal, having discovered that he quit his job and has emptied out his apartment. When Carmine later enters Cowboy Bill's, he tells them that he's moving to New York City to become a Broadway actor. They both help out with his moving expenses and he hugs them goodbye. Carmine then goes to Laverne's apartment as moving men remove her mattress. She tells Carmine that she's about to buy a waterbed. When Carmine reveals his plan to be an actor, she gives him the money that would have paid for the waterbed. They then embrace and exchange teary goodbyes.

Upon arriving in Manhattan, Carmine auditions for a part in the musical "Hair." He immediately strikes up a friendship with fellow tryout Rick West and they decide to become roommates. After both receive callbacks for a second audition, they find a small apartment together. The next day, both men discover that they got parts in the play. Carmine soon calls Laverne to give her the good news, making her fall into a makeshift "waterbed." Rick then brings the show's cast to the apartment, inspiring the troupe to rehearse the song "Aquarius." The next morning, Carmine makes out with one of his cast mates before she hurriedly leaves. Rick, who pretended to be sleeping, teases Carmine about his failed romantic overtures, causing the two to playfully tussle. Commercials deleted.
