LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: THE NOTE (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.

In this episode, Frank takes charge of running the Burbank Business Association's dance contest. Laverne and Carmine are the event's winners, taking a baby crib as their prize to give to Shirley. However, upon arriving back at their apartment, Laverne discovers that all of Shirley's belongings are gone. She then finds a terse note from Shirley relating how her husband Walter had been transferred and that she had to accompany him. Laverne tells Carmine that she feels hurt and deserted by Shirley.

The next day at work, Laverne continues to feel depressed, after which Rhonda and Squiggy suggest getting a new roommate. In quick succession, a football player's girlfriend, a man in his forties, a bag lady, and a woman whose clothes and habits mirrors those of Laverne apply for the space, with none working out. That night, Lenny, Squiggy, Carmine, Frank, and Rhonda spend the night with Laverne to ward off her loneliness. Upon finally getting some time alone in her bedroom, Laverne then finds two pages which completed Shirley's goodbye. Reading the letter to her friends, Laverne takes solace in finding out how much Shirley loved her, then declares that she'll always miss her best friend. Commercials deleted.
