LAVERNE & SHIRLEY: HELMUT WEEKEND (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about two young working women, following their humorous adventures from the 1950s through the 1960s.
In this episode, Shirley criticizes Laverne's skimpy outfit that she's chosen to wear to a retirement luncheon for one of Shirley's colleagues. Meanwhile, Rhonda tries to be enthusiastic about Lenny and Squiggy's new act, Junko the juggling clown. Next, Squiggy gets a letter from his long-lost dad Helmut, saying that he'll be arriving at the boys' apartment the next day. Carmine does his part by bringing over a blow-up mattress.
As soon as he arrives, Helmut is critical of Lenny. Helmut is also dismissive of Frank, to whom he still owes money. Helmut quickly tells Squiggy that Lenny should be ousted from their partnership, after which the firm can be renamed Squiggman and Son. Squiggy then reluctantly informs Lenny that he wants him to become "a silent partner," to which Lenny begrudgingly agrees.
That night, Lenny tells Squiggy that Helmut borrowed $200 from Junko, having said that Squiggy would repay him. Squiggy tracks down Helmut, finding him kissing a pretty blonde woman and preparing to leave town. Calling his father a con man, Squiggy gets the money back and confronts Helmut about having deserted him as a child. Helmut leaves in a huff, after which Lenny comforts Squiggy. They then decide to reform their partnership. Commercials deleted.
