MUPPET SHOW, THE {JULIE ANDREWS} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy/variety programs featuring Jim Henson's Muppets, and hosted by the group's genial emerald ringleader, Kermit the Frog.
This episode's guest is actress and singer Julie Andrews. The show opens with Andrews and the Muppets singing "The Lonely Goatherd" from "The Sound of Music." Kermit discovers a real-life cow backstage and makes various attempts to return it to its rightful owner, and eventually the other Muppets try to get their hands on it. After a Muppet News Flash, Gonzo's performance of "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" on the bagpipes atop a pole is cut short when a beaver gnaws on the pole, sending him careening to the ground. Kermit tries to have a quiet chat with Andrews but Muppets flying through the air for various reasons keep interrupting them. Gonzo sings "Won't Someone Dance with Me" during the ballroom segment.
Next, the Gogolala Jubilee Jugband plays "Borneo," followed by Andrews singing "When You Were a Tadpole and I Was a Fish" for Kermit. Sam the Eagle's anti-conservationist speech doesn't go as he expected. Following a Muppet Labs sketch featuring hair-growth tonic, Andrews sings "I Whistle a Happy Tune" accompanied by the Muppet Monsters. The show closes as Andrews inquires to Kermit about her cow, much to Kermit's embarrassment. Commercials deleted.
