TWO GUYS AND A GIRL: SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO/THE INTERNET EPISODE {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The series finale of this comedy series about roommates Berg and Pete, and their longtime friend Sharon, who lives in their Boston apartment building.
Part I opens as Berg continues to pester Irene because he's jealous of her relationship with Roger and wants her back, although she wants nothing to do with him. Meanwhile, Pete and Ashley have started a sexual relationship with each other days before she is to move to California for her medical residency. Johnny decides to accompany Sharon while she delivers a subpoena. Berg, Peter, and Roger get into a big argument about Irene. Berg tries to convince Roger that Irene is only using him to distract herself from Berg. Pete and Ashley spend time in a park together and he asks her to meet him back there that night at 8:00 PM. Sharon's attempt to deliver the subpoena is stymied by a mean-looking and persistent guard dog. Their attempts to get past the dog prove fruitless until Johnny discovers that the dog is fascinated by his car keys.
Irene angrily confronts Berg; Roger told her that Berg claims he caught Pete and Irene in bed together. She decides that in order to move on with her life she has to move out of the building. Berg manages to trick Irene and Roger into the same bar so he can talk to both of them. Roger won't admit that he lied but Irene points out that all she wants is to have Berg out of her life and leaves. Roger says that the more Berg pursued Irene, the more he will drive her away. Pete gets stood up by Ashley after waiting three hours for her. Sharon and Johnny return home after their experience with the guard dog, noting that they had fun together and they need to make more time to "hang out" with each other. Pete goes to Ashley's apartment to find her packing her things. She admits that she was afraid that she would become emotionally attached to him and that she would decide not to go to California. Disappointed, Pete calls her a coward and leaves. Berg goes to Irene to apologize for not listening to her, deciding that it would be best if he left her alone. Irene accepts his apology and decides not to move out after all.
Part II begins as Ashley continues to move her things out of her apartment. Berg sees a report on the news about a brand of condom being recalled due to high rates of defection, and panics when he realizes he used one of them when he was with Irene. Johnny and Sharon reveal to Ashley that Sharon may be pregnant with Johnny's child. Ashley and Sharon's menstrual cycles are "synchronized" and both have been late, but Ashley refuses to admit that she may be pregnant as well. Berg attempts to enlist Pete's aid in secretly obtaining a sample of Irene's urine so he can determine if she is pregnant or not. Pete refuses to help and so Berg decides to "rig" his bathroom to collect her urine. Pete asks Berg to tell Irene the truth but he is afraid that she will view it as a stunt to win her back. In any event, Berg resolves to be there for her and her potential baby.
Sharon goes to take a pregnancy test and convinces Ashley to take one as well. Berg tries to get Irene to come over to his apartment to watch a television special; in reality he has provided her with many beverages in the hopes of getting her to use his bathroom. On the job, Pete goes back into a burned-out building to free Johnny from being pinned down under rubble. While there, Johnny reveals that Sharon and Ashley may be pregnant. Sharon and Ashley are purchasing pregnancy tests when they hear that Johnny and Pete are in the hospital. Irene doesn't fall for Berg's plan and runs back to use her own bathroom. Berg tells her the truth and she thinks what he did was sweet. He promises to marry her if she is pregnant and she begins to think that she was wrong about him.
Ashley and Sharon visit Johnny and Pete at the hospital. Pete promises that he will be there for Ashley if she has a baby. Later, Irene visits an anxious Berg. She announces that she broke up with Roger, realizing she doesn't really love him, and also that she is not pregnant. Both of them are immensely relieved. Sharon and Ashley take their pregnancy tests. It turns out that Sharon is not pregnant, but Ashley is. Despite this, Ashley intends to take up her medical residency and says goodbye to the other three, as her plane leaves soon. Pete ponders what to do next. The episode concludes by showing three alternate endings. Includes commercials.
