WILL & GRACE: COFFEE AND COMMITMENT (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about the friendship between Will Truman, a gay lawyer, and Grace Adler, a straight interior decorator.

In this episode, Will is annoyed when Grace yet again fails to pay for her share of the dry-cleaning bill, though they are distracted by the arrival of a highly caffeinated Jack, who has a crush on a very generous barista. While out at dinner, the two friends are touched when their pals Joe and Larry ask them to do a reading at their upcoming wedding, though Will is further aggrieved when Grace steals his dessert and offers to "treat" Joe and Larry on Will's credit card. Later, Jack arrives at Grace's office in desperate need of coffee, as his barista friend quit his job; Karen, possibly speaking from experience, informs him that he has developed an addiction. He denies it, but she forces him to admit the truth and offers to abstain from caffeine alongside him in solidarity. Will buys a kayak for Joe and Larry and refuses to let Grace sign her name to the card without paying, pointing out that she often takes advantage and lets him foot the bills. Grace is upset to realize that she must find a wedding gift on very short notice. They are interrupted by the arrival of Karen and Jack, who are two hours "sober" and frantic.

The four friends drive to Vermont and Will mocks Grace's "homemade" present, though she retorts that he is being petty in demanding to split everything 50/50. Upon arriving at the lodge, Jack and Karen are horrified to learn that it is in fact a dry wedding and that coffee is being served instead, with both struggling to curb their obsessions. After reassuring the nervous grooms, Will and Grace resume their argument about the kayak, with Will finally declaring that he dislikes her behavior because he "doesn't want a wife." They continue their debate as the ceremony begins, and Jack's "rewrite" of his reading is quickly cut off. When Will and Grace do their reading, however, it causes them to reflect on the strength of their imperfect-but-loving relationship and they make up, forgetting that they are not the couple of the day. Later, Grace assures Will that he will find a partner someday and Karen finds solace with Larry's bitter sister's flask. Jack declares that he will never again fall into a bad habit because of a guy, though this is called into question when a cute guest asks for a light. Commercials deleted.
