TAXI: FANTASY BOROUGH {PART 1 OF 2} {SECOND SEASON FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the employees of a New York City cab company. In the first half of this two-part episode, Tony excitedly tells the other that he had Herve Villechaize, star of "Fantasy Island," in his cab, and that he accidentally left behind some photographs. Louie, a fan of the diminutive actor, shares his impression of his character Tattoo, to no one's amusement. After attempting to explain the TV show to the clueless Latka, Tony muses that he wishes Fantasy Island were a real place, though Louie scoffs at the idea that the "dumb boxer" could have any interesting dreams. Tony then fantasizes about encountering news journalist Eric Sevareid in his cab and sharing his thoughts on world events and politics with him, and Sevareid, impressed with his insight, invites him to participate in a prestigious debate. Back in reality, Louie barks at Latka to get back to work, and Latka indulges in a fantasy of his own, in which he is the boss of the garage and everyone else obeys his whims, including mechanic Louie, whom Latka sentences to face a firing squad after a minor mistake.
Villechaize soon calls the garage and offers to come by to collect the photos, and the others comment on his down-to-earth nature. Bobby states that he too would be friendly if he were a celebrity, and he dreams about becoming a famous pop singer, beloved by all, including a drunken Louie, who insists that he knows the star and used to be his boss. No one believes him, however, and when they meet, Bobby denies ever having known the man. When asked, Reverend Jim says he might like to "do a little traveling," and imagines a scenario in which an alien spaceship arrives at his apartment, with the inhabitants saying they like his unusual world views and inviting him aboard, and he happily agrees. Villechaize arrives at the garage and offers Tony a reward, which he turns down, much to Louie's disapproval. He meets the gang, including Louie, but is unimpressed with his impression of him. Commercials deleted.
