LOU GRANT: OBITUARY (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas about a Los Angeles newspaper, its staff, and city editor Lou Grant. In this episode, Billie Newman narrowly escapes death when she is called back to the city room and disembarks after boarding a plane with three other reporters. The small charter plane, en route to the site of a prison riot, crashes, and there are no survivors. Billie is badly shaken, and wonders why she alone was spared. Later, Mrs. Pynchon expresses her displeasure with the bland obituaries that ran for the three journalists and suggests that the Trib do an in-depth story on their lives. Working on the story becomes Billie's opportunity to come to terms with this tragedy; both she and Lou learn some sad truths about the lives of their late colleagues. Meanwhile, Animal tracks an endangered moth with a concerned scientist. Commercials deleted.
