CHEERS: HOUSE OF HORRORS WITH FORMAL DINING AND USED BRICK (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.

Carla is having a difficult time finding a new place to live. Sam continues to see other women, and Diane believes that he is doing so to “punish” her for refusing his marriage proposal. She criticizes his choice of date as a brainless fitness nut, and Sam secretly realizes Diane is right and calls off the date. Cliff finds a potential house for Carla on his new mail route, and she decides to go see it. Carla believes the house is perfect for her, and reveals that she bought it on the spot. Norm does some investigating on his own and discovers that Carla’s new house is built directly over the graveyard of a 17th-Century prison. Local legends state that the vengeful spirits of the executed murderers buried there will one day rise up to seek vengeance on the house’s occupants; they fear that Carla will buy into this legend due to her superstitious nature. Diane believes they should tell her, but the others note that she is extremely happy and they don’t want to ruin that. They end up telling her, but surprisingly Carla is not bothered by the revelation of her new house’s location.

However, Carla is privately bothered by the knowledge and reveals that after several weeks she has not yet moved in, afraid of what might happen. Diane recommends that she spend a night in the house to help overcome her fears, and Carla decides to do so. She enters, alone and jumpy, before Cliff and Norm arrive in order to keep her company for the night. They are also secretly spooked by the place, but Cliff feels guilty about Carla being there and wants to stay the night for her sake. Norm leaves at the first opportunity when Vera calls, admitting his fear. This leaves Carla and Cliff alone, and they sit down to eat together and have a conversation. Carla resents that Cliff believes she is frightened of the house, but Cliff says he feels responsible for the whole situation and feels as though he should help. At first she wants him to leave but begrudgingly asks him to stay, and they end up falling asleep on the floor until the next morning. She realizes that she has emerged from the incident safe, and is overjoyed to know that she can stay in the house without any supernatural repercussion. However, she and Cliff are momentarily frightened by the loud sound of a passing airplane overhead, as the street is located near the airport. However, this revelation does not bother Carla, who is still relieved that the place is not haunted. Commercials deleted.
