CHEERS: AFFAIRS OF THE HEART (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about a group of regulars at a Boston bar.
A customer at the bar, Henry "Hank" Zenzola, keeps complimenting Carla and tries to get her to talk to him, but she coldly rebuffs him. Diane decides to play matchmaker and convinces Carla to talk to him. Carla keeps trying to find some kind of flaw in Hank, convinced that any man who would be attracted to her must have something wrong with him. She can find no fault in him, however, and starts going out with him. Soon the two of them are inseparable and very much enjoy each other's company. However, Carla suddenly tells Hank she doesn't want to see him anymore, and will not explain why. Sam confronts her over this and concludes that Carla is in love with Hank and is afraid of being vulnerable. Carla insists otherwise and beats up Sam before returning to Hank in order to prove Sam wrong. She borrows Diane's keys in order to use her apartment for them to have sex.
Later, Sam learns from Coach that Hank has a serious heart condition which could prove to be fatal if he experiences any "excitement." Sam and Diane panic and rush over to her apartment to stop Carla and Hank from having sex. They arrive just before Carla and Hank return from dinner, irritated at their presence. Sam and Diane confront Hank over the heart condition and he admits that it is true, much to Carla's shock. He explains that he had been cautious for a long time, but felt that Carla was worth the risk, although he admits that he failed to take her feelings about the matter into account. Despite them never having sex, Carla considers Hank to be "the best lover I ever had," and they share one last kiss before he leaves. Commercials deleted.
